Hi there! I’m Kharod France, a Psychotherapist and Counselor Educator with particular expertise working with children, adolescents, young adults and families.

With over 15 years of experience as a licensed counselor, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside countless adolescents and young adults as they’ve navigated some of life’s most formative and challenging moments. I have a special interest in working with teen and young adult males and I bring a deep respect for the unique challenges that boys and young men face as they navigate the journey through adolescence and early adulthood. Utilizing a strengths-based approach, I strive to create a space where clients feel heard, valued, supported and compassionately challenged. My approach is grounded in Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), always guided by the belief that meaningful growth starts with authentic connection and a nurturing, non-judgmental relationship. I also believe that therapy doesn’t have to be confined to four walls—we can walk, be active, and bring energy and movement into the therapeutic process! My goal is to create a therapeutic environment that is engaging, dynamic, empowering and collaborative while still helping clients to gain insight and move toward healthier, sustainable, values-driven lives.

I obtained my B.A. in Psychology & Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland, College Park followed by a M.A. from Columbia University (Teachers College) in Psychology in Education. After a brief stint working in the mental health field in New York City, I moved to Washington, DC where I obtained my Doctoral degree in Counselor Education & Supervision from The George Washington University. Over the past 15 years I conducted individual, group and family counseling in a myriad of clinical settings; including a community based Intensive Outpatient (IOP) clinic, several University Counseling Centers, and outpatient therapy in a Group Practice. Prior to founding this Private Practice, I spent 11 wonderful years at Rathbone & Associates/Capital Youth Services working with teens, young adults and their families!

In addition to my ongoing work as a psychotherapist and supervisor, I currently serve as a full-time faculty member at Loyola University Maryland and have previously held faculty positions at both The George Washington University and Marymount University.

Outside of my clinical and faculty work, I enjoy spending quality time with my wife and our two daughters, playing golf (with more enthusiasm than skill), exploring the outdoors through hiking, and keeping active with regular runs. These pursuits keep me grounded, energized, and connected to the people and experiences that matter most.
