Walk-and-Talk Therapy

I’m excited to share a new service being added to our counseling offerings: Walk-and-Talk Therapy!

This approach offers an alternative to the traditional therapy session held in an office setting. Instead of sitting indoors, walk-and-talk therapy invites clients to engage in the therapeutic process while walking (or hiking!) outdoors, typically on a local trail or in a local park. For many—especially adolescent and young adult male clients—this format can feel more comfortable, less intimidating, and even more natural.

With our increasingly sedentary lifestyles, movement and the calming presence of nature can help facilitate reflection, ease anxiety, and promote a sense of grounding. Walking side-by-side can make it easier to open up, and being physically active can enhance emotional regulation and mental clarity. Walk-and-talk therapy also encourages mindful engagement with the environment, offering another layer of connection and presence in the work we do together.

While this option won't be the right fit for every session or every client, it can be a powerful complement to traditional therapy, especially for those who find solely sitting in an office setting challenging or limiting.

If you are interested in incorporating walk-and-talk therapy into your sessions or learning more about how it might support your goals, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d be happy to explore whether this might be a good fit for you.
